Therapeutic Harmony: The Magic of Music Therapy at Fundació ASPACE Catalunya

Music therapy at Fundació ASPACE Catalunya offers a comprehensive approach to improve the health and well-being of people with multiple disabilities through music and its therapeutic elements.

The music therapy project at Fundació ASPACE Catalunya has as its main objective to improve the quality of life of people with through music and its therapeutic elements. Through a comprehensive approach, it seeks to promote communication, relationship, learning and other relevant therapeutic goals to meet the physical, emotional, social and cognitive needs of patients. The need for this project lies in the importance of providing effective therapeutic support for people with a high complexity profile, such as cerebral palsy or multiple disabilities. These conditions can cause problems with communication, mobility and other aspects of everyday life. Music therapy has been shown to be an effective intervention to address these issues and improve the well-being, active participation and empowerment of the people served.

The main purpose of the project is to implement a music therapy program that improves the health and well-being of the people served at the ASPACE Catalunya Foundation.

Targets

1. Facilitate people's communication and interpersonal relationships through music and its elements.

2. Improve motor skills and coordination through specific music therapy techniques.

3. Stimulate language development and improve pronunciation and projection through singing and other musical activities.

4. Promote attention, memory and problem solving through the use of cognitive musical activities.

Approach and strategies

The approach of the project is based on the Neurologic Music Therapy model, which uses techniques based on research and evidence to achieve therapeutic goals. The strategies include the use of different music therapy techniques adapted to the specific needs of each person.

Planned activities

1. Initial assessment of each person to determine their needs and therapeutic goals.

2. Individual and group music therapy sessions, led by qualified music therapists.

3. Implementation of specific music therapy techniques to address the areas of communication, motor skills and cognition.

4. Regular assessment of people's progress and adjustment of the music therapy program according to needs.

Expected benefits

In the short term, it is expected to improve communication, motor skills and other skills of the attendees. In the medium term, a significant improvement in people's quality of life and a reduction in problems associated with neurological disorders is expected. In the long term, the project can contribute to greater inclusion and participation of people in the community, improving their autonomy and general well-being.
