Last September 28 and 29, the XPatient Barcelona Congress was held, a congress on the change in the care model, in which the main actors of the health system meet to share innovation, technology and evidence of the improvement of the experience of the patient, also of the carer and the professionals.
The Aspace Catalunya Foundation, represented by Mr. Àngel Aguilar, head of the support technology service, accompanying the patient Mr. Oriol Roqueta, was able to participate in the first day's session focused on assistance robotics to help and assist people with special needs.
They were able to enjoy the presentation by Dr. Carme Torras from the UPC who explained different applications of robotics to help with everyday tasks such as folding clothes or eating, as well as interesting reflections on ethical aspects of robotics.
They were also able to participate in presentations on social assistance robots, for example helping with mental health tasks.
Finally, they were able to enjoy a table where the current reality was contextualized both from the administration and from companies and research organizations. Oriol expressed the need he would have for these technologies, as well as for them to be accessible to everyone, for example if they could understand a dysarthric voice.
