The workshops for Aspace families are back. We started by raising awareness and experiencing first-hand sitting in a chair, a very important aspect in the day-to-day life of our boys.
Last Saturday, May 11, we started working with the "Experiencing Sedentary" workshop, a practical, experiential workshop concept with a theoretical reinforcement of the spine and pelvis to help understand such an important aspect as sedentary behavior. We had the help of Reha Girona to introduce and review the essential material to achieve this good sedate.
A total of 20 family members participated in the morning of experiences, making them aware of what happens to our bodies when we sit well and badly, and how this aspect changes our sensations and interferes with activities and the relationship with the environment .
The families were in for a surprise with a room full of wheelchairs and different materials to sit on. It was very enriching to share the experience and empathize with their children through the dynamics proposed by the physiotherapists.
Our task as caregivers is to ensure the well-being, comfort and autonomy of our children, being aware of the importance of sitting well for the different activities of the day. Sedentary is an important part of the treatment.
This workshop has been prepared by the Physiotherapy Area of the Aspace Rehabilitation Service, and given the success and the good feedback received from the families, we are already thinking about the next workshop.
Soon we will send you the information about the next workshop... We look forward to seeing you there!
