Aspace Catalunya's international participation in Physiatry Day 2025

The director of the Health Sector of the Aspace Catalunya Foundation, Dr. Tamara Biedermann, has been invited as international speaker in the framework of Physiatry Day 2025, held within the National Congress of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation of ParaguayThe event has been organized by theSocial Security Institute (IPS) I la Paraguayan Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

During his presentation, entitled “Rehabilitation in Infantile Cerebral Palsy”, Dr. Biedermann presented highly relevant clinical and research content that is transforming the approach to cerebral palsy (CP). Highlights include:

  • The evolution of the concept of cerebral palsy, which is currently understood as a neurodevelopmental condition with unique manifestations in each person and which can vary throughout life.
  • The importance of early detection, through tools such as General Movements (GMA) and the scale hin, which allow interventions to begin before 6 months of age.
  • The role of genetics and neuroplasticity in diagnosis, prognosis and personalization of treatments.
  • The need to base interventions on the most current scientific evidence (like the Traffic Light System) and to adopt a comprehensive approach that takes into account functional, family, social and emotional aspects, included in the well-known “F-words”.
  • The challenge of adapting care systems to the changing needs of adults with CP, a reality often made invisible.

Participation in this congress reaffirms the commitment of the Aspace Catalunya Foundation with innovation, scientific evidence and attention focused on people with cerebral palsy, multiple disabilities and their families.

We continue to work towards inclusive, quality care with a vision for the future.
