For the first time, the application of shock waves for the management of spasticity had a specific table within the congress.
It has been carried out the 10th congress of the "Sociedad Española de Treatments con Ondas de Choque" (SETOC) organized jointly with the «International Society for Medical Shockwave Treatment» (ISMST).
One of the physiotherapists of the Aspace Catalunya Foundation, Míriam Tur, specialist in this treatment and who is currently completing his PhD studies, participated with a presentation on the management of spasticity with radial shock waves.
The congress had the participation of the top experts in the treatment with shock waves at the national and international level, highlighting the presence of the president of the ISMT, Dr. Wolfgang Schaden, and the vice president, the Dr. Karsten Knobloch.
This year, it was the first time that, within a SETOC congress, the approach to spasticity with shock waves, had a specific table within the program as an empirically proven common clinical use treatment, and not as it had done until now, within the table of experimental treatments.
In his presentation, Miriam Tur, presented the results obtained in the clinical studies carried out at the Aspace Catalunya Foundation, showing the long journey that has been developed in recent years around this therapy, and positioning the Foundation as a pioneer in the management of spasticity using radial shock waves on a national and international scale.
Participation in this congress allowed the connection with different professionals in the field interested in this application, and share interests, doubts and future perspectives.
