A space to grow and express yourself
The fashion workshop of the Poblenou Occupational Center has become much more than a creative activity. It is a space for participation, learning and personal expression where people with complex neurodevelopmental disorders, cerebral palsy and multiple disabilities can develop their abilities and show their talent.
Through the design and making of scarves with their own patterns, participants work on creativity, fine motor skills and concentration, but also key aspects such as autonomy, decision-making and self-confidence. Each piece is born from a shared process in which ideas are shared, materials are experimented with and the final result is built together.
Benefits that go beyond artistic creation
The value of the workshop lies not only in the pieces that are made, but also in everything that is generated during the process. These types of experiences promote teamwork, communication and a sense of belonging to the group. They also strengthen the self-esteem of the participants, who can see how their own idea is transformed into a real creation.
The project has also allowed them to imagine and create their own brand and logo, a fact that contributes to reinforcing collective identity and giving visibility to a creative potential that too often remains in the background. At the same time, the workshop incorporates a cultural and sensory dimension, bringing participants closer to the world of fashion, fabrics and new ways of experimenting and learning.
Real inclusion and opportunities
One of the most outstanding experiences has been the recording of a small advertising spot, in which each room created its own script and gave prominence to the scarves they made. This initiative has been a new opportunity to express themselves, communicate and make the work done visible.
The evaluation of the activity has been very positive, especially for the satisfaction of creating something of one's own and seeing the effort made recognized. The workshop thus becomes an example of how inclusion is built day by day: creating accessible spaces, encouraging participation and putting people at the center.
