The special education school gives the main presentation and highlights the interdisciplinary model of integrated health, social and educational care of the Aspace Catalunya Foundation
The Special Education School of the Aspace Catalunya Foundation has been the protagonist of the 5th Blanquerna Education and Health Conference – Ramon Llull University, where he presented his integrated care model and highlighted the relevance of interdisciplinary work to respond to the highly complex students served by the center.
A landmark event that promotes dialogue between the educational, health and social spheres. The day, which was held in two sessions, morning and afternoon, featured the participation of more than 700 students: approximately 400 in the morning shift and 300 in the afternoon shift. The participants came from degrees in Primary Education, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Physical Activity and Sports Sciences, Physiotherapy, Nursing, Nutrition, Speech Therapy and the Master's Degree in Psychopedagogy, forming a markedly interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary space.
The main presentation, presented by the professional team of the Special Education School, It focused on the description and foundation of the integrated care model developed by the Foundation. This model articulates the health, social and educational areas in a coordinated and sustained way, with the aim of offering a global, coherent and personalized response to students, characterized by complex needs that require multiple and complementary professional perspectives. The approach exposes the need for structured interdisciplinary work, where communication, co-responsibility and joint decision-making become essential pillars for the quality of interventions and for optimizing the development and well-being of each child.
Within the framework of the presentation, Two real clinical cases treated by the school were also presented., selected for their relevance in illustrating highly complex educational and socio-health situations. These cases exemplified the need for an integrated approach, showing how different professional profiles — primary education teachers with therapeutic pedagogy, nursing staff, physiotherapists, speech therapists, occupational therapists and psychologists, among others— collaborate in the development and implementation of a shared and flexible intervention plan.
Based on these cases, the Aspace Catalunya team proposed a participatory activity to students, aimed at stimulating critical reflection, interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration between future professionalsThe exercise aimed to promote understanding of the role and complementarity of the different disciplines involved in caring for children and young people with complex needs, reinforcing the idea that the quality of the educational, health and social response is based on effective coordination between diverse profiles.
Aspace Catalunya's participation in the conference reaffirms the institution's commitment to knowledge transfer, the training of future professionals and the consolidation of an integrated care model which responds in a rigorous and innovative way to the challenges present in the field of special education. This contribution also strengthens the collaboration between the university world and the socio-educational sector, favoring the generation of spaces for debate and reflection that allow progress towards an increasingly qualified, coordinated and person-centered professional practice.
