The Aspace Catalonia Foundation has commemorated World Physical Activity Day, which is celebrated this April 6th, focusing on the key role of adapted sport as a tool for health, autonomy and inclusion for people with cerebral palsy and multiple disabilities.
Beyond a one-off day, the initiative reflects a continuous task that the foundation carries out throughout the year through its Adapted Sports Service, a transversal service that forms an essential part of its comprehensive and personalized care model. This service is made up of professionals specialized in health and physical activity., who work to turn exercise into a tool for well-being, participation and quality of life.
Currently, The service promotes different adapted programs that reach a wide number of users. Proposals such as aquatic activity, considered one of the star activities, allow mobility, relaxation and autonomy to be worked on in a safe environment, while initiatives such as sport for all encourage participation in recreational and inclusive activities in community spaces. Together, these programs serve hundreds of people and demonstrate the scope and real impact of the service.
Besides, The foundation is committed to an interdisciplinary approach with projects such as FisioEsport, which combines the work of physiotherapy and adapted sports teams to offer a global and personalized intervention., or joint activities with music therapy and yoga, which reinforce expression, balance and group cohesion.
This set of actions is based on the same idea: Physical activity not only improves mobility or physical condition, but also has a direct impact on socialization, emotional well-being and active participation of people in their environment. For this reason, all activities are designed and adapted to individual capacities, with the aim of promoting maximum autonomy and ensuring an inclusive and meaningful experience.
In this context, the day organized with users of the Montjuïc day center and the residence is framed as a visible expression of this fundamental work. An action that not only promotes physical activity, but also strengthens bonds, generates community and gives meaning to the foundation's support model.
With this commemoration, the Aspace Catalunya Foundation reaffirms its commitment to adapted sport as a right and as a transformative tool, capable of improving the quality of life and guaranteeing real opportunities for participation and inclusion for all people.
