The presentation was presented by Daniel Torrejon, director of the Foundation's educational area, and Andrea Gimferrer, head of studies at the School of Special Education, who have presented to the international academic community the experience developed by the Aspace Catalunya School of Special Education.

A contribution to the international debate on education and integrated care

The participation of the Aspace Catalunya Special Education School in this international congress highlights an interdisciplinary intervention model that articulates the educational, health and social spheres in a coordinated manner in the care of people with neurodevelopmental disorders, cerebral palsy and highly complex multiple disabilities.

This model, developed over the years by the Aspace Catalonia Foundation through the Special Education School / Day Hospital, integrates educational, therapeutic and social action into the same professional practice with the aim of guaranteeing a global response to the needs of the students.

The presentation allowed sharing with researchers and professionals from other countries an experience that integrates education and therapeutic intervention in the same support process, aimed at promoting the development, well-being and active participation of students in their educational environment.

FEATURED “The Aspace Catalunya model integrates education, health and social intervention into a single interdisciplinary professional practice.”

The student at the center of the intervention model

The Integrated Care Model developed by the Aspace Catalonia Foundation places the student as the center of all educational and therapeutic actions.

The intervention is based on shared planning between professional teams and on the continuous coordination of the different areas of action, which allows building Personalized attention itineraries adapted to the specific needs of each student.

In this model, pedagogical and rehabilitation intervention are not conceived as separate areas, but as complementary dimensions of the same professional practice, aimed at enhancing the capabilities, autonomy and participation of students.

Interdisciplinary coordination of professional teams is one of the keys to the model developed by Aspace Catalunya.

Shared knowledge from the Aspace professional community

Participation in this international congress has also allowed share the knowledge generated by the professional teams of the Aspace Catalunya Foundation, contributing to the academic and professional debate on new models of comprehensive care in education and health.

As highlighted Daniel Torrejon, director of the Foundation's educational area:

“Presenting this model in an international academic space allows us to share an experience that is born from the collective work of Aspace Catalunya professionals and that is committed to truly integrated care between education and health.”

The presentation has aroused interest among the participants of the congress, since the proposed model offers a structured response to the current challenges of inclusive education and care for students with complex educational and health support needs.

International projection of the Aspace educational model

The presentation of the Integrated Care Model in the International Academic Conference on Education reinforces the international projection of the educational and welfare work of the Aspace Catalunya Foundation.

At the same time, it highlights the knowledge and experience accumulated by the professional teams of the Aspace Catalunya Special Education School, who develop a practice every day based on interdisciplinary collaboration, innovation and person-centered care.

This participation contributes to placing the experience of the Aspace Catalunya Special Education School within the framework of the international debate on new models of comprehensive care for people with neurodevelopmental disorders, cerebral palsy and highly complex multiple disabilities, consolidating the model developed by the Foundation as a reference experience within the professional debate on interdisciplinary care in education and health.

The presence at this prestigious international congress thus reinforces the projection of Aspace Catalunya's educational model and its role in the reflection and development of new models of comprehensive care in education and health.
