Last February 8, the book "Psicología aplicada al deporte adapatado" was presented. The coordinator of the book is Jordi Segura Bernal. In the 19 chapters that make up the book, 33 specialists have participated in the subject, from Catalonia and the rest of Spain, in addition to a leading Norwegian psychologist in the field of sport. The foreword to the book has been signed by Miguel Carballeda, president of the Spanish Paralympic Committee.
This book is a manual of Psychology and Social Psychology aimed at sports science experts, psychologists, technicians and educators interested in introducing and deepening the field of adapted physical activity and sport. Its content includes theoretical foundations, current lines of research and suggestions for professional intervention aimed at improving the health and well-being of people with functional diversity, from an inclusive perspective. Psychological training is specified in all types of disability (physical, sensory, psychic and mental) and in a variety of modalities, such as para-Olympic sports, dance, mountaineering or water activities.
This book discusses adapted sport, adapted physical activity, psychology, social psychology, social inclusion, para-Olympic sport, people with disabilities, mental health, well-being, quality of life and functional diversity. Topics such as the parent-child relationship, mental health, the role of the sports coach and different physical activities are discussed, among other topics of interest. It is a useful guide for technicians as well as educators and students.
One of the co-authors isAnna Sanagustín Vidal, physiotherapist at our school and professor at the Blanquerna Faculty of Health Sciences, Ramon Llull University. The book is dedicated to Elena Botella (ACS), one of the first physiotherapists at Aspace Barcelona, director of the Blanquerna Physiotherapy studies and one of the pioneers in adapted sport.
The presentation of the book took place in the Auditorium of the Faculty of Psychology and Education and Sports Sciences Blanquerna (FPCEE), Ramon Llull University. The event was chaired by Dr. Xavier Pujades, vice dean of postgraduate studies and research at the FPCEE Blanquerna. They intervened Mr. Carles Muñoz, president of the Catalan Sports Federation of Cerebral Palsy (FECPC) and vice-president of the Union of Sports Federations of Catalonia (UFEC), Mrs. Beatriz Galilea, head of the Psychology Service of the Catalan Sports Council, and Dr. Jordi Segura, professor at the FPCEE Blanquerna, Ramon Llull University. All three agreed to point out the great similarity of psychological, social and sporting aspects between athletes with and without disabilities.
Among the attendees were some co-authors, family members, professionals in the field of adapted sports, athletes and students of psychology and sports. There were also Pilar Camp, one of the first physiotherapists at Aspace Barcelona and a professor at the Blanquerna University School of Nursing and Physiotherapy, and Jaume Cardús, Elena Botella's husband.
