At the Aspace Catalunya Foundation, technologies have long since become another tool to carry out our work. A few years ago, work began on a continuous digital transformation plan, but now, in the turbulent times we have had to live with the Covid-19 crisis, the use of these technologies has become essential .
At the professional level, they already used the new technologies in their day-to-day lives, but the possibility of teleworking was not an imperative need in our house, since most of the services we offer are direct and face-to-face care. With the confinement, the scene has changed radically. Thanks to a great effort on the part of everyone, almost 100% of the non-direct care services that have had the need, have gone on to carry out their work in a non-face-to-face manner as normal, thanks to the tools of teleworking promoted by the ICT department, which have helped professionals to telework in a comfortable and simple way, being able to remotely access e-mail and all the corporate tools necessary to carry out their functions. It has also helped us to give an impetus to another internal project: "Aspace without papers", and thus reduce the use of paper.
But this telecommuting has also reached other professionals, especially those who offer direct care. Doctors, physiotherapists, teachers, social workers, and other professionals who have needed it, have also had access to e-mail and corporate tools, but in addition, videoconferencing tools have begun to be used to in order to maintain contact with our users. Tools such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Jitsi have allowed us to carry out the various tasks with users who, despite the confinement, also needed support. Subsequently, from the ICT department we have implemented its own video conference server, to provide our interventions with the necessary guarantees. Finally, we have also provided several rooms and offices in our centers with all the necessary material to continue using these videoconferencing tools, since continuity will continue in the post-confinement era, being a new communication tool.
Another way that has allowed our professionals to interact with users has been the use of audiovisual tools, through our channel on Vimeo, and our website, which allowed us to generate a lot of specific content for the different services it offers Space.
Thanks to all this, almost 150 professionals from the Aspace Catalunya Foundation have been able to carry out their work and social work during the days of confinement, trying to be close to our reason for being: our users.
