The aim of this publication is to disseminate and raise awareness among citizens about the rights of people with disabilities, as well as to provide the group with the tools necessary to know and guarantee their fundamental rights.
The document, that can consult online, is related to the National Pact on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. In this sense, the Catalan regulations are adapted to the principles and requirements of the International Convention of the United Nations on the rights of people with disabilities -New York, December 13, 2006-, ratified by the Spanish State.
The new Code guarantees that Catalonia's regulations are aimed at eradicating discrimination against people with disabilities in all areas, as well as promoting equal opportunities and personal, social and work autonomy, in order to move towards a more inclusive and supportive society.
In order to provide a comprehensive response to the collective's needs, the document focuses on all areas of action, such as civil and administrative law, mobility and transport, urban planning, architecture and housing, commerce and leisure among others. The exercise of fundamental rights and freedoms, effective participation in everyday life and the empowerment of the person and their family, are the central axis of this initiative.
