Corporate social responsibility, a differential and strategic value in health and social organizations.
Last July 7, we were invited by the Catalan Union of Hospitals (UCH) to participate in a session, together with other representatives of various entities in the social and health sector, where Vector 5, a consultancy that helps organizations to align with CSR (corporate social responsibility), was able to present the results of the 1st edition of the Solidarity Commitment Profile, a tool for analyzing the main vectors of social commitment. This tool helps entities to position themselves and anticipate the new regulatory requirements for the contracting of care services for people within the framework of the provision of public services.
It was a very complete and interesting session for the whole sector. On the part of Josep M. Canyelles, of vector 5, aggregated results of all the vectors of the 7 evaluated entities were presented; also from the UCH, Josep M. Bosch, was able to contribute knowledge about the European regulatory framework, which focuses on a future scenario where the public procurement model will be oriented towards entities that provide care to people being responsible at the level social, are committed to their interest groups, and go beyond the regulatory aspect.
Finally, in the round table, from Fundació Aspace Catalunya, it was possible to explain the experience of the entity, as well as the most outstanding actions, of incorporating the solidarity commitment profile tool (PCS), sharing with other entities the differential value provided in the transversal management of the entity.
Corporate social responsibility is gaining more and more strength in organizations, it must be a differential and strategic value in care services for people. In the health and social sector we not only have to do the job well, but apart from being able to demonstrate it through formalization, we have to go further, be responsible, committed, and be able to give back to society and the planet some value
The work with this tool is continuous, since regulatory adaptations and best practices are dynamic and changing, like the environment. Environmental proposals must be part of long-term continuous improvement; the well-being and safety of the working environment must be a key pillar in an organization, efficiency and economic sustainability is vital to be able to stay alive as an organization, and also as a sector, health and social entity, we must commit ourselves to the community, to people's rights, to the value of the transparency of our actions and to the value of a government and ethical management of entities that provide services to people.
