Today is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. The General Assembly of the United Nations in 2015, through Resolution 70/474/Add.2 proclaimed this day and it has been celebrated since 2016.
The aim of the celebration of this day is to promote the full and equal participation of women and girls in education, training, employment and decision-making processes in science, and eliminate all discrimination against women in the spheres of education and employment, while breaking down legal, economic, social and cultural barriers through policies and curricula in the field of science that encourage greater participation of women and girls and recognize their contributions.
This celebration is part of point 5 of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which aims to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
At the Aspace Catalunya Foundation, we are a very feminized organization in which approximately 75% of our staff are women and at the same time, we are an organization where Science and Research are key to being able to do our work from all services: educational , community and health.
From the Aspace Equality Commission, as you know, we also work to raise awareness for Equality in all areas and the celebration of this day is an item on the road ahead of us.
In childhood and adolescence, a path of interests and opportunities is drawn that throughout life will shape our personality, our longings, our professions.
Access to education and employment under equal conditions are keys to breaking down barriers and ensuring equal participation in all areas of life
