Today, January 28, is the European Data Protection Day, and it helps us to become aware of and be responsible for the processing of the data of the users of Aspace's services.
From the Aspace Catalunya Foundation, we have been ensuring the protection of users' data for many years, but since the European regulations came into force, even more so, due to the changes brought about by the European Regulation.
We consider it very important to sensitize and make all our professionals aware of the importance of ensuring the security of the data of our patients and service users. For this reason, we regularly train and provide information to professionals to manage data according to the security measures we implement from the entity.
Due to the fact that we are a health, social and educational organization, we process sensitive data of people in vulnerable situations. This should make us be even more careful in the treatments we do, and therefore reflect on key aspects in the treatment of data, such as the basic principles of proportionality, responsibility, minimization, legality, consent, among others We call this reflection proactive responsibility, and it is that now we must not only comply with the regulations but we must constantly have a committed attitude and self-management of the processed data.
We especially remember the importance of paying attention to the cybersecurity. Even before the pandemic it represented the main threat to data protection, but due to the digitization of data, the generalization of remote access and teleworking, these risks have multiplied and we must all be very attentive to possible attacks or deceptions that we may receive via e-mails, whatsapp or SMS, for example.
