On the 4th and 5th of October, the Congress of World Cerebral Palsy Day was held in Córdoba. More than 500 people gathered, many of them with cerebral palsy and similar disabilities, to address the rights of the group.
Among the attendees, 133 people with cerebral palsy participated in the activities scheduled for the Congress.
Under the slogan 'We are here', this Sunday, October 6, World Cerebral Palsy Day was celebrated, an initiative promoted by patient associations from more than 75 countries around the world - in our country, by the ASPACE Confederation of which Fundació Aspace Catalunya is a part, a member of Som Pacients - with the aim of raising awareness and informing society about the reality and needs of people with cerebral palsy and their relatives .
The World Day is an initiative of people with cerebral palsy, their families and non-profit organizations to ensure that children and adults affected have the minimum rights, access and opportunities that anyone else in our society. And only by working together can we make this possible.
Today, 17 million people with cerebral palsy live worldwide - 120.000 in our country - and around 350 million relatives connected in a very close way to an affected adult or child. In fact, cerebral palsy is the most common physical disability in childhood.
In this context, World Cerebral Palsy Day was also celebrated in our house under the slogan 'Dale la vuelta', at that time the title of the campaign launched by ASPACE to claim the rights of people with cerebral palsy and give to learn about the violations of rights suffered by the group in their day-to-day life.
This Friday and Saturday was celebrated the World Cerebral Palsy Day Congress 2019 in Córdoba , "the campaign revolves around a video that turns reality around and introduces the viewer to a world where all people have cerebral palsy with the exception of the protagonist, who will suffer different rights violations in everyday situations . So our protagonist will not be able to choose his food, enter a nightclub, be hired in a company and even be mocked for his status as a person 'without cerebral palsy'."
We want to share with you some images from the event...
