A motivating educational experience adapted to the needs of the students

Stories are a resource that the teachers use in the classrooms to work on various centers of interest, transmit educational values ​​and help children understand the world around them in a fun and motivating way.

In the case of the students of theAspace Catalunya Special Education School, have specific characteristics and needs, which can be worked on through sensory stories. These are a sensory adaptation of the story to be told. The narration it is accompanied by different stimuli and sensory experiences of the olfactory, tactile, visual, gustatory, auditory, vestibular, somatic and vibratory type which makes it easier for students to access the narrative of the story by connecting the contents of the narration with the different senses and perceptual areas.

It should be noted that, the sensory tale is a very useful pedagogical resource for dealing with the different areas of learning, moreover, it helps them develop sensory, cognitive, emotional, social and linguistic skills by strengthening the adult-child bond while enjoying a pleasant, fun and interactive experience.

At school, teachers and speech therapists work on the elaboration and adaptation of these stories. They adjust them taking into account the specific needs of each group and the curricular objectives they want to achieve. during the development of the activity is important to be explained calmly, showing each stimulus individually, without rushing and giving an option that the student can access while respecting their pace and response time.
