Creating games brings many benefits

The Poblenou Occupational Therapy Center is working on the development of various games in the "games workshop". The last one that was developed was the "¿Quién es quién?" personalized with the users of Poblenou.

These activities bring several benefits to people with disabilities.

Like now:

  1. Development of manipulative skills: involves activities such as cutting, gluing, manipulating pieces and other actions that help improve motor skills and hand coordination.
  2. Cognitive stimulation: the process of thinking and creating the rules, as well as participating in the games, encourages cognitive stimulation. This can be especially beneficial for people with cognitive disabilities.
  3. Promotion of creativity: game creation is creative expression, as you have to make decisions about design, rules, and other aspects. This creativity can be very enriching for people with disabilities.
  4. Development of social skills: participating in the workshop involves interacting with other people, either collaborating in the making of the game or playing the games. This social interaction can improve social skills and foster social integration.
  5. Increased self-esteem: creation and participation can be a source of personal satisfaction and success, helping to increase self-esteem and self-confidence.
  6. Promotion of cooperation: if designed to be played in groups, it can encourage cooperation and teamwork, allowing users to experience the value of collaboration.
  7. Continuous learning opportunity: matches can provide opportunities for continuous learning as participants can face new challenges, make decisions and adapt to different situations.

After a lot of work they have made their own game, it has been a long but very rewarding process.

It should be noted that this activity not only provides fun but also contributes to the integral development of people with disabilities, addressing both physical and cognitive and social skills.
