Taking care of people also means taking care of each journey

Every day, before the activities in the services begin, there are people who are already caring.
They open doors, adjust seat belts, greet with confidence, listen, observe and accompany. They are the monitors and transport monitors of the Aspace Catalunya Foundation, a key figure in the day-to-day lives of many users and their families.
For people with neurodevelopmental disorders, cerebral palsy and multiple disabilities, travel is not just a commute. It is a sensitive moment, where safety, tranquility and the way of accompanying have a direct impact on how the day begins and ends. Aware of this fundamental role, the Aspace Catalunya Foundation has promoted a specific training aimed at all transport monitors of the entity, linked to social, educational and health areas.
The initiative born from the social sphere, but it has been conceived from a perspective cross, with the aim of reinforcing common criteria of support, safety and quality in all services. A commitment that responds to Aspace's vision of offering a comprehensive and coherent care throughout life, regardless of the area from which the person is accompanied.
The training is part of the strategic line of take care of people, ensure safety and improve the quality of care at all times of the day, including those that often fall out of focus, such as transportation.
During the day, the monitors were able to share their day-to-day experiences, share common situations and reinforce practical tools for safer, more empathetic support tailored to the needs of each person. A space that has had a very good welcome and that it has highlighted a group that is often little visible but essential.
In this context, Carlos Varela, from the leadership of the social field, has highlighted the importance of working in a coordinated manner between areas to guarantee a shared vision of care and support. For his part, Meritxell López Bailon has highlighted the need to generate training spaces that recognize the role of monitors and provide them with more tools to face their day-to-day lives with safety and confidence.
Given the positive impact and response from the teams, the Aspace Catalunya Foundation plans to continue this training on a regular basis, consolidating it as a regular practice within its commitment to continuous improvement and the care of people.
Because at Aspace, Taking care of people means taking care of every moment of the day., also the routes.
