Aspace Catalunya and Gillette Children's promote a new international alliance in integrated care for multiple disabilities

A strategic collaboration to strengthen research, innovation and the development of advanced integrated care modelsdon an international scale

Meeting at the 48th IHF World Hospital Congress

Within the framework of 48th IHF World Hospital Congress, held in Geneva, the Aspace Catalonia Foundation and Gillette Children's Hospitals and Clinics held a working meeting that allowed them to delve deeper into possible avenues of collaboration. The meeting, marked by a climate of proximity and a joint desire for transformation, responds to Aspace Catalunya's commitment to strengthening international alliances that give meaning and projection to its Strategic Plan.

Three priority areas of cooperation

Throughout the session, the management and technical teams shared visions and concerns about current challenges in the care of people with high complexity. From this exchange, three priority areas emerged that open the door to significant collaboration:

  1. Clinical and translational research

The two organizations agreed on the need to generate new evidence that allows for improved models of care. Research into complex neurodevelopmental disorders is therefore considered one of the most promising lines of research.

  1. Innovation in integrated care

The conversation also emphasized the innovation of assistive technology and the application of advanced solutions that connect the social and healthcare fields. The shared goal is to improve outcomes with evidence, optimize processes with rigor, and ensure a direct and measurable impact on the quality of life of individuals and families.

  1. International knowledge exchange

Finally, the value of creating spaces for mutual learning, specialized training and mechanisms for sharing experiences that allow for growth in skills and global vision was highlighted.

Complementary models, a shared opportunity

Both Gillette Children's, a world-leading center in complex pediatric care with more than 125 years of history, and Aspace Catalunya, with 64 years of experience and a consolidated integrated model on a European scale—start from a perspective focused on people and their real needs.
This coincidence not only facilitated the connection between the teams, but also reinforced the feeling of being faced with an opportunity for real impact.

Voices that point towards the future

The interventions of the people representing Gillette Children's highlighted the potential of this shared approach.

“There are real opportunities to promote joint studies”

Andrea Stoesz, Vice President of External Affairs, underlined “Aspace Catalunya's commitment to a comprehensive and personalized care model that connects perfectly with our way of understanding the care of people with complex needs”.

“We need to generate solid evidence to transform care models”

A deep commitment to people

"Working alongside world-class centers allows us to accelerate innovation and expand our capacity for impact. Our priority is that any international collaboration brings tangible value to individuals and families and reinforces an excellent, evidence-based, integrated care model."

Looking ahead: a shared roadmap

The meeting concluded with the commitment to explore specific projects that could begin to roll out in the coming monthsBoth Aspace Catalunya and Gillette Children's agree that this new alliance can become a driver of innovation and an example of international cooperation at the service of people with high complexity.
