With the creation of the Advisory Council of families and people served, the Aspace Catalunya Foundation consolidates a new space for participation that reinforces its people-centered care model. This initiative allows the experience and perspective of families and users to be directly incorporated into the improvement of services, moving towards a more participatory, transparent and oriented organization to the real needs of the group.
The Aspace Catalonia Foundation has launched at the end of 2025 the Advisory Council of Families and People in Care, an initiative that represents a new milestone in the evolution of the entity's healthcare model and that reaffirms its commitment to a person-centered care, based on active participation, listening and co-responsibility.
The active participation of the people being cared for and their families is key to continuing to move towards more sensitive, more efficient services that are better aligned with their real needs.
With this initiative, the Foundation consolidates a stable space for participation that allows the voice of the people being cared for and their families to be incorporated in a structured way in the reflection on the services, healthcare processes and future challenges of the organization.
The creation of this council is part of a vision of more open, transparent and participatory governance, in which the user experience becomes an essential element to continue advancing the quality of services and improving the care model.
A project aligned with the legal framework and the Foundation's strategy
The launch of the Advisory Council is part of the institutional commitment of the Aspace Catalunya Foundation to the principles of citizen participation that guide the health system.
In this sense, the project aligns with article 10.10 of Law 14/1986, General Health, which recognizes the right of citizens to participate in the planning and evaluation of health services.
Likewise, it connects with the principles of the Catalan Health Plan, which establishes respect for people and citizen participation as essential pillars of the system, promoting shared decision-making, the empowerment of people and the active incorporation of their voice in the definition of priorities.
The initiative is also part of the deployment of the Strategic Plan 2023–2027 of the Aspace Catalonia Foundation, which places the participation of users and their families as a key element in the development of the care model and in the continuous improvement of services.

The council directly contributes to improving the Foundation's health, social and educational services. The contribution of the people served and their families allows us to identify aspects that may be overlooked by professionals and anticipate emerging needs.

Promoting the voice of the patient and family
The council facilitates the needs, concerns and expectations of patients, users and families to be heard and taken into account effectively, creating a space for real participation and an opportunity to incorporate this perspective into future strategic decisions.
Promoting collaboration and co-responsibility
The council establishes a stable space for collaboration between users, families and the Foundation's professionals.

The board's contributions can have an impact beyond our organization.
The information generated can contribute to influencing health policies, especially in the health, social and educational areas linked to the elderly population. people with neurodevelopmental disorders, cerebral palsy and multiple disabilities, a highly complex group.
The Foundation can transfer these needs and evidence to institutional or sectoral participation spaces, reinforcing its role as an active agent in improving public policies.
The voice of the people being cared for and their families becomes a key source of knowledge to improve services and guide healthcare innovation.
A plural and representative council
The council is made up of relatives of people treated in different services of the Foundation and by patients of the Aspace outpatient care service, providing a complementary and plural vision.
Through regular meetings, members participate in debate spaces with professionals from the organization, addressing issues of common interest related to the quality of services and the user experience.
This participatory model enriches the institution's decision-making and contributes to building a closer and more trusting relationship with the people being cared for and their families.
First work sessions
Two sessions of the Advisory Council have been held so far.
The first session was intended for present the board, share general information about the entity, its objectives and the Foundation's main strategic projects.
The second session focused on satisfaction, quality and user experience, with the aim of identifying elements for improvement and generating a space for shared reflection.
Throughout 2026 it is planned to celebrate two new sessions, in which different key topics identified by both the Foundation and the members of the council will be worked on.
Transparency and participatory governance
The creation of the Advisory Council also reinforces the Foundation's commitment to a more open, transparent and participatory governance.
