The biennial event brings together more than 160 professionals and recognizes innovation as a collective attitude at the service of inclusion and quality of life.
A day to share talent and build the future
The Aspace Catalunya Foundation has celebrated a new edition of the Innovem 2025 Conference , a space for meeting, learning and inspiration that, every two years, brings together the Foundation's professional community to share projects, ideas and transformative experiences.
The day began with the institutional welcome from the president of the Board of Trustees, Enric Mangas , who highlighted that this space “is much more than a day: it is an invitation to think about the future together”. Mangas stressed that, for Aspace Catalunya, “innovating means daring to do things differently, seeking new answers to the usual challenges with commitment, cooperation and a human perspective.”
The program also included the inaugural conference by Professor Francisco Loscos , entitled “Innovation and leadership in healthcare, social and educational organizations” , which offered an inspiring reflection on the key role of people in the processes of change and transformation.
We innovate: innovation as a collective attitude
In her closing speech, the general director, Elena Puigdevall , emphasized that innovation at Aspace Catalunya “is not a milestone, but a shared path.” Inspired by Loscos’ presentation, she recalled that “innovation is not about having good ideas, but about good people capable of making them a reality with values and meaning.”
Puigdevall highlighted the Innovem Project , which has become much more than an ideas competition: it is a shared working methodology that encourages participation, creativity and continuous improvement.
The three strategic axes of the project — the experience of the person, best healthcare practices and sustainability — guide all the Foundation's initiatives today and inspire its future projects.
This 2025, the response from the teams has been extraordinary: 37 projects presented , 5 finalists , 1 winning project and 3 special mentions , which reflect the enormous talent, dedication and commitment of all the professionals who are part of Aspace Catalunya.
The finalist projects
The five finalist projects of this edition were:
- Intensive therapy for dysphagia and orofacial functions with neuromuscular electrostimulation (VitalStim)
- Seeing is believing.
- Aspace Neuroassistants: caring with knowledge
- Talking environments: cognitive accessibility and autonomy for everyone
- At a glance: visual guides to supports and mobility
All of them are tangible examples of applied innovation , of how creativity and cooperation can transform the care, communication, autonomy and quality of life of people with neurodevelopmental disorders, cerebral palsy and multiple disabilities.
“Environments that talk”, winning project of Innovem 2025
The project “Environments that speak: cognitive accessibility and autonomy for everyone” , developed by Laura Lacárcel, Gemma Mayral and Cristina Rodríguez , was the winner of the 2025 edition.
The proposal promotes the creation of universally accessible environments , which facilitate the understanding, orientation and participation of people with functional, cognitive and sensory diversity.
The objective is to promote personal autonomy and the right to understand and decide, adapting spaces to people and not the other way around.
The project also includes training for professionals and families in cognitive accessibility and aims to serve as a model for the Foundation's future new building.
Its most relevant impacts are greater autonomy, understanding and participation of the people served, as well as collective awareness of universal design and real inclusion.
Special Mentions Innovate 2025
During the day, the Innovem Special Mentions were also awarded , which recognize particularly inspiring initiatives in different areas:
- Educational: Virtual reality
- Social: Life through my eyes
- Hi: Waters with meaning
These mentions highlight the diversity of perspectives, methodologies and disciplines that coexist within Aspace Catalunya and that, together, build a unique model of comprehensive care.
A celebration full of emotion and future
The day culminated with a dinner of brotherhood and music from a magnificent DJ , which turned the end of the party into a moment of celebration, recognition and collective pride.
Professionals from all services, management team and guests shared emotions, dance and complicity, in a festive atmosphere that perfectly symbolized the spirit of Innovem: people who work together, with enthusiasm, to transform reality.
Aspace Catalunya closed this edition with a message of energy and confidence: innovation begins with people and grows when it is shared.
A successful participation that inspires and encourages us to continue adding ideas, projects and dreams in future editions.
Building the future, together
After the success of projects such as Crea 3D (born from the first edition of Innovem) and now with Entorns que parlen , the Foundation reaffirms its will to continue innovating with meaning, values and real impact.
