The new Strategic Plan 2023-2027 is launched
We celebrate 60 years. Online Conferences on addressing infantile cerebral palsy with international repercussions are organized, among many other commemorative activities.
The activity is marked by the Covid-19 pandemic. The eConsulta becomes part of the ambulatory consultations. The Pilot Center building is now called the Aspace Multipurpose Unit.
2010
The Aspace Catalunya Foundation becomes part of the ACTIC network (Integral Health System for public use of Catalonia, made up of the network of internment centers for public use in Catalonia, the network of community health centers and services and public use of Catalonia and the network of health transport services for public use in Catalonia), after the approval of the Board of Directors of CatSalut and at the proposal of the Management of the Health Consortium of Barcelona.
The Marco Aureli Rehabilitation Center and the Numància Rehabilitation Center are opened, located in the Marco Aureli location and the Numància location respectively, with the aim of being more accessible to the population with cerebral palsy and neurological developmental disorders. The Resources and Support Technology Service is relocated to the Pilot Center in Montjuïc.
After a unanimous agreement at the extraordinary meeting of members held on June 22, 2017, the entity is transformed from an Association to a Foundation. On December 27, 2017, the Aspace Catalunya Foundation was registered with the Department of Justice of the Generalitat of Catalonia, with registration number 3043, a fact that was communicated to us on January 12, 2018.
Activity begins at the CIM: Residential and daytime activity, rehabilitation, aquatic and multi-sensory activity for people with disabilities. The central services of the entity are resettled. The management contract is signed in concert, for the service of occupying residence places for people with cerebral palsy with the Consorci de Serveis Social de Barcelona.
2000
The Special Employment Center - ASPACET is created, a social initiative that aims to train and integrate people with cerebral palsy who have difficulty accessing the ordinary labor market into employment
The Support Technology and Resources Center is created, absorbing the old Technical Support Service. The service promotes personal autonomy and social integration through support technologies and improves information systems and product accessibility.
The Center for Occupational Therapy and Social Integration of Badalona is put into operation in a premises provided by the Department of Welfare and Family of the Generalitat de Catalunya. The center absorbs the previous Occupational Center for Social Integration of Numància and expands the number of occupational places
Aspace participates together with the ASPACE Confederation and the University of Oviedo, in the SICLA communicator project (Alternative Language Communication System).
1990
The Sant Jordi Cross is launched in Aspace. The Aspace Home Service is launched with the aim of improving autonomy and avoiding or delaying admission to a residential center, providing them with support at home. In 1999, Aspace was awarded the Center for Development and Early Care - CDIAP, in the Sants-Montjuïc district of Barcelona to care for children aged 0 to 6 years. This service is arranged with the Department of Welfare and Family of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
The physiotherapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy home care service is put into operation. The Technical Assistance Service is put into operation, collaborating with people to promote their autonomy through mechanical adaptations, orthopedic elements or IT contributions.
The Outpatient Care area of the Pilot Center expands the service with global psychomotor and language reeducation activities, alternative communication, adapted IT, maintenance physiotherapy for adults with cerebral palsy and psychological care for children and families.
1980
The adapted sports area is created to promote the practice of sport in children, young people and adults.
The Occupational Center for Social Integration Aspace Numancia is launched. Its objective is the rehabilitation and overall maturation of the adolescent, stimulating his personal and social capacities.
Aspace introduces alternative communication techniques in Spain through the Bliss symbol system.
1970
The 1st Cerebral Palsy Symposium, organized by the Pilot Center, was held, in which professionals from all over Europe and people with cerebral palsy participated, who claimed the need for residences, autonomous leisure and independent living.
Work began on the Alella residence and day center and it was inaugurated in 1976. It was owned by Aspace for 13 years, until it was acquired by ICASS.
1960 & 1959
The Association is declared of public utility by the ministerial order of 23/02/68.
The Aspace special education school is created with the aim of promoting and stimulating the overall development of all the capacities of the child with special educational needs and achieving greater family and social integration. The School is registered in the register of Centers of the Educational Administration and enjoys an educational concert with the Generalitat de Catalunya. Later, the maturation and integral therapy section for children from 3 to 6 years old was added to the school (1972).
The Early Prevention and Treatment Section is launched, a pioneering service in Spain and the third of its kind in Europe.
It was declared as a "social benefit" association. The Marc Aureli Clinic opens its doors for the external rehabilitation of children, young people and adults.
The Cerebral Palsy Association is founded, a non-profit organization. The Archangel Sant Gabriel Pilot Center and a specific ambulatory care service for people with cerebral palsy is founded.
The association is configured as "Cerebral Palsy Aid Society".
ASPACE was born when a group of parents with children affected by cerebral palsy decided to form an association to promote a portfolio of services dedicated to research, diagnosis, treatments, rehabilitation, education, promotion and support that responded to this col· teaching non-teaching
