An exciting project that started at the end of last year and continues with great enthusiasm and motivation this year 2024-2025. Practicing boccia with Badalona Capaç's colleagues has been and continues to be a very enriching experience.
A group of 10 users of the Occupational Center of Badalona meet with 10 users of the co-integrated occupational center of BDN Capaç, they meet one Monday a month to share a day of Boccia. Through this sport, health is promoted and the network with the community and interpersonal relationships with other centers in Badalona are strengthened.
Sport as a tool for inclusion and personal growth has found a special place in Badalona. Thanks to the collaboration between Aspace Badalona and BDN Capaç, Boccia has become much more than a game: it's an opportunity to connect people, foster skills and work as a team.
The project, jointly designed by the area of physiotherapy and the area of autonomy, integrates the essential axes of both areas of social and health care. Through monthly workshops, participants work on physical, mental and emotional aspects in an adapted and inclusive environment. The main goal is not only sporting, but also human and social. “It is an experience that brings us closer, motivates us and allows us to enjoy an adapted sport like Boccia”, they say from BDN Capaç, a center where many users approach this sport for the first time. The monthly meetings have become a perfect opportunity to learn and share, transforming each session into a unique day of coexistence and learning.
With practical training and a final tournament planned, users of the Aspace Badalona Occupational Therapy Center assume the role of "sports tutors", teaching their BDN Capaç teammates how to play Boccia. A proposal that not only encourages sports practice, but also reinforces values such as solidarity, equal opportunities and inclusion. "The most important thing is to participate, grow together and enjoy the journey", say the organizers. A statement that perfectly sums up the essence of this initiative, which has already earned a prominent place in Badalona's social and community network.
The experience has been a resounding success, with a very positive assessment from both the professionals and the participants. Beyond sports practice, the Boccia days have served to create bonds, encourage inclusion and build a healthy and enriching coexistence space.
This project has not only brought physical and emotional benefits, but it has also become a benchmark of how sport can connect people and generate a community network in Badalona. With this good reception, the aim is for the initiative to consolidate and grow, adding new entities and thus expanding the positive impact in the immediate environment.
