A key training to improve communication with children with cerebral palsy
Professionals from the Aspace Catalunya Foundation have participated in the Phase I of a training program in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) offered by the ASPACE Confederation, with the aim of strengthening professional skills in supporting children with cerebral palsy and great needs for communication support.
Communication is a fundamental right and a key element in guaranteeing quality care centered on the person. In this context, several professionals from the Aspace Catalunya Foundation have taken part in the first phase of the Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) training program promoted by the ASPACE Confederation.
This program aims to provide professional teams with knowledge and tools to facilitate communication for children with cerebral palsy, especially those who have serious difficulties in oral expression. The training addresses strategies, resources and supports that allow expand opportunities for participation, expression and decision-making of children in their daily lives.
Participation in this training is part of the Aspace Catalunya Foundation's commitment to the continuous improvement, healthcare quality and innovation, as well as with a comprehensive care model that puts the person at the center. Incorporating AAC as a cross-cutting tool contributes to ensuring more accessible, inclusive and respectful communication with the rhythms and capabilities of each child.
This first phase of the program lays the foundation for continuing to advance in the implementation of CAA in the different services of the entity, reinforcing interdisciplinary work and support for families. The training also allows for sharing common criteria and generating a shared view on communication as a key element of quality and well-being.
