The Aspace Catalunya Foundation participated, on November 15, 2025, in the II International SEDAN Conference, held at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). The meeting, with a strong scientific and clinical orientation, brought together professionals specialized in understanding and addressing emotions, sensations and pain in people with neurodevelopmental disorders.
The entity was represented by Mrs. Laura Estrela Bañuls, Deputy to the Director of Health Services, Coordinator of the Mental Health team of the Outpatient Care Service and neuropsychologist, and for Mr. Oscar Garcia Garcia, neuropsychologist from the same service.
During their speech, they presented the paper “Group psychotherapeutic experience with congenital profiles of high complexity”, in which they presented the trajectory and clinical experience of Aspace Catalunya in group psychotherapy. The session allowed for a deeper understanding of this methodology as an essential tool in the emotional approach of people with highly complex congenital neurological diagnoses and their families.
The presentation included examples of four active psychotherapeutic groups—child, adolescent, adult, and family—that illustrate the diversity of profiles and needs throughout the life cycle. It also detailed the methodology used, the results obtained, and the benefits that this practice brings to the psychological and social well-being of the participants.
In addition to the presentation, Aspace Catalunya presented the poster "Comprehensive Approach in Complex Chronic Patients (CCP): Interdisciplinary Intervention in a Clinical Case", focused on a complex clinical case of an adult with cerebral palsy and chronic pain. The work highlighted the importance of a coordinated interdisciplinary approach between professionals from the medical, psychological, rehabilitation and neuropsychological areas.
The poster showed how this collaboration has allowed for optimizing functionality, reducing pain, preserving cognitive functions and improving the patient's quality of life, while promoting autonomy, participation and overall well-being. A perspective that consolidates the Foundation as a benchmark in the care of complex chronic conditions.
With this participation, Aspace Catalunya reinforces its commitment to comprehensive and specialized care, where the emotional and psychological dimension plays a central role. The SEDAN Conferences thus become a key space to share knowledge, establish synergies and make visible the entity's contribution in the field of neurodevelopment and mental health.
