Adapted sport: an inclusive and transformative experience

The students of the Degree in CAFE of the Faculty of Psychology, Education Sciences and Sport (Blanquerna – Ramon Llull) discover the practice of sport adapted to the Center Integral Montjuïc, promoting inclusion and awareness about paralympic sport
The 4th year students of the CAFE de Blanquerna – Ramon Llull have come to the Center Integral Montjuïc of the Fundació Aspace Catalunya to participate in an adapted sports day. This activity has combined theory and practice to raise awareness about inclusion through the Bocce, a Paralympic sport, with the users of the Aspace Montjuïc Residential Reception Service.
However, the students had the opportunity to participate in an adapted sports day, organized by the Aspace Catalunya Foundation. The activity, which had the involvement of the Sports Service and the Residential Reception Service and, highlighted the importance of inclusion and awareness through Paralympic sport.
The day was structured in various theoretical and practical activities. After an initial presentation about the Aspace Catalunya Foundation and its commitment to inclusion, an introduction to the sport of Boccia, a Paralympic sport that requires a high degree of precision and strategy, was offered. Afterwards, the students led a warm-up session and took part in mock matches, representing the different functional classes (BC1, BC2, BC3 and BC4).
"It is a unique experience that not only teaches us about adapted sports, but also connects us with the real needs of people with disabilities," he highlighted. Ainhoa ​​Nieto, associate professor of the Degree in CAFE. For users of the Aspace Residential Care Service, the activity was an opportunity to show off their skills and enjoy an inclusive sports environment. "It's exciting to see how we can teach future professionals the value of adapted sports and its ability to transform lives," he said. affirm Lola Aguilar, coordinator of the Sports Service.
The participants expressed a high degree of satisfaction with the activity, highlighting the opportunity to learn and reflect on inclusion and diversity in the sporting field. During one of the games, a BC3 class user shared with the students how Boccia had allowed him to overcome personal and social barriers. This moment exemplified how sport can become a powerful tool for inclusion and personal growth.
This collaboration between the Physical and Sports Activity Degree (Blanquerna-Ramon Llull) and the Aspace Catalunya Foundation reinforces the mutual commitment to comprehensive training and the awareness of future professionals in the values ​​of inclusion and respect for diversity.
