Special education teachers

When we think of the figure of the teacher, we evoke our own history and remember some teacher who helped us grow and learn with patience, empathy and respect. A good teacher leaves a mark on the student and also on his family, because he welcomes them and accompanies them in the process of development and growth of his children.

At the Aspace school we conceive of the student in a global way and we live day to day with him as an exciting challenge that motivates us to be flexible, creative and reinvent ourselves to adapt to the needs of 'learning, emotional and health that they all present.

Over the years, we have learned many languages: the particular language that each child has. Many of our students have serious communication difficulties, which is why we listen to them actively, perceiving and interpreting with a glance their feelings, their emotions, their difficulties, their anxieties and also their progress and their victories.

One of the secrets is patience and positivism, in order to discover the potential of each child at school. We convey to them that with effort and patience we will be able to achieve small or large progress that will help them grow and make them happy.
for us, education is a comprehensive process which starts from the student's reality and is based on the following pillars:

  • Teach to be: developing one's own self from early needs, through experimentation, the discovery of the body and the relationship with the other based on emotional and affective bonds.
  • Teach to feel: help them to be able to identify and recognize their emotional states and their emotions. That they can regulate them and can express them in an appropriate way.
  • Teach to know: help our students discover and understand the world around us.
  • Teach to do: accompany them in instrumental learning and the discovery of the environment by favoring experiential experiences, exploration, manipulation and creation.
  • Teaching to live together: develop social competence, based on respect, harmony, solidarity and empathy.

The teachers at our school, like teachers all over the world, aim to develop in our students cognitive skills and functional learning that make them as independent as possible. In our specific case, we have children and boys and girls with special needs, which means that our way of teaching must be, if anything, more innovative, flexible and respectful of the student and the their circumstances.

Daily routines, experiential learning, motivating activities and varied methodologies are the basic tools we have to achieve the goals we have set for each of our students, and each learning achieved, each challenge conquered and ultimately each big or small progress is a triumph for them that makes us proud and makes us happy.

The learning that is born at school continues in each of our children's and young people's homes, which is why it is so important to form a team with families, respecting them and conveying empathy to them as well as giving them solutions and support when necessary they require
